The Mind Behind the Madness

You're probably thinking to yourself, who is this crazy Katy, or "Diabeatles," lady who waxes demented about crafts, art, and all sorts of madness. I know I am. Here's what I've gathered so far about who I am and what I do and I might even someday figure out why…

As you can probably tell, I'm pretty crazy about crafts and art of all different media: paper crafting

(card-making, specifically); designing clothing and sewing them as well as accessories like wallets and purses, drawing and painting with watercolors, but my passion and favorite w

I started making jewelry at a young age when I moved up from pony beads on a piece of string and friendship bracelets from embroidery floss to wire and crimp beads when my much older cousin taught how to make more substantial necklaces and bracelets. I'd always had a talent for artistic and craftsy things so I took to this hobby and from there it grew. Beads were certainly my gateway drug into all the many wonderful media there are out there for jewelry. Every time I make

e something it pushes me to explore new ways to create. Each piece prompts a new "what if I did it this way…?" and spurs me to try something new. It may get expensive at times, but just about nothing else in life makes me happier, causes more frustration, or causes as much of a high as when I find myself in a new territory of creating jewelry, especially metals. I also very much like to repurpose objects, whether in a way they were never intended to be used before or something that would normally be considered garbage being used in a new and beautiful way.

I hope you enjoy my blog and learn from any tutorials I might post. None of them are an expert's instructions, simply my way of sharing the artistic adventures that bring me so much happiness to anyone who is as interested as much as me.
